Couples counseling (or couples therapy) typically involves meeting for 50-60 minutes every week or two. The advantage of couples counseling is it can more easily fit into your schedule and is often covered by your insurance.
Couples intensives typically involve meeting for 2-4 hours at a time, for 4-6 sessions. These can be scheduled over a long weekend or over 2-3 months. The disadvantage of intensives is that it can be difficult to schedule for many working parents.

Couples counseling is ideal for couples who want to build positive relationship habits into their marriage and are not dealing with deeper, long-standing resentments or hurts. Newlyweds who just want coaching on how to keep their relationship healthy; new parents who are dealing with the stress of life changes; couples together 7-10 years who notice they are more disconnected; all would benefit from couples counseling!

Couples counseling works better when it can be done in-person. On occasion (when there are issues coming in person because of work or young children) virtual therapy can work just as well, as long as there is not a high degree of conflict in the relationship.

Couples counseling are billed at $200 out-of-pocket per 60-minutes and is covered by most insurance companies. If you have BCBS-IL PPO, you would only need to pay deductibles and copays. All other clients pay the out-of-pocket rate. I am happy to submit claims on your behalf so that you can be reimbursed if your policy has that benefit.
